Born in Medellin, Colombia, he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1965, and was elected president of the Colombian Society of Architects in Medellín in 1975.

The Foundation assists in the funding and setting up of investment syndicates for LDCs (Least Developed Countries), NICs (Newly Industrialized Countries) and failed states, and serves as liaison between EU Development Agencies, the International Development Organizations present in Brussels and the CSR departments of corporations worldwide.
